“Canton Independent School District…Reaching for Excellence, Leading to Great Accomplishment.”
The Canton Independent School District (Canton ISD) is composed of four schools: Canton Elementary School, Canton Intermediate School, Canton Junior High School, and Canton High School. In the 2009-2010 list of accountability for Texas Schools, issued by the Texas Education Agency, every campus within Canton ISD was granted a rating of “exemplary” status. This status means that each of these schools was commended on its performance in Reading/ELA, Writing, Mathematics, and Science.
The mascot of the Canton IDS schools is the bald eagle; a very fitting mascot, since each and every student here is encouraged to soar to great heights! Small-town sentiment rings through in the school district’s mission statement: “To be a R.E.A.L. District…Respect, Expectation, Attitude, and Love.
